There are many styles of yoga, and each has particular characteristics. Let’s look at them specifically:

  • vinyasa yoga: one of the best-known styles, which focuses on breathing and movement coordination.
  • Ashtanga yoga: it is a dynamic and intense style, in which the positions are always repeated without rest.
  • hatha yoga: it is the basis of yoga, and is focused on physical and spiritual harmony.
  • Iyengar yoga: It is a style of yoga that places particular emphasis on the alignment of the body through the practice of asanas.
  • Kundalini yoga: this style combines movement, breathing and meditation, to become aware of your body and mind.
  • bikram yoga: also called Hot yoga, it is a style focused on movement and meditation, all of which takes place in a heated room.
  • Yin yoga: ideal for relieving stress and instilling calm. The movements are repeated in a slow and controlled manner.
  • Anusara yoga: it is a modern style, which takes many elements from Vinyasa yoga and which creates a greater connection between body and mind.
  • Jivamukti yoga: This type of yoga combines spiritual practice with quite vigorous asanas, which require strength and endurance.
  • Power yoga: it is a very dynamic and vigorous style. Challenging and intense, Power yoga is much more physical and characterized by a dynamic flow. The classes are explosive, hence the name Power yoga.
  • Yoga nidra: also known as sleep yoga, this style is suitable for those suffering from anxiety, stress and depression.
  • Prenatal yoga: yoga suitable for expectant mothers and tailored for all trimesters. This is the ideal style for pregnant women, because it prepares for childbirth, focuses attention on the pelvic floor, breathing and the bond between mother and baby.
